I know it sounds a bit odd but I am building a rod for my 2 month old grandson. I know it sounds premature but it will be decorative only for his bedroom wall. I think that what I need for this is:

a. A rod tip of about 3ft +, guide rings are not necessary

b. A reel that does not have to be in working condition or decoratively good shape

I'm happy to pick up if you are in Wiltshire/Somerset but will pay postage and beer money if any spares are available.

Hello-have an old rod tip from a fly rod I was given years ago-butt end broke. Also have an old spinning reel I don,t use. I,m not any where near you, but shouldn,t think it will cost the earth to send it. You can have it for the postage. Byron T

I was thinking about making a reel seat last night and I thought "what would Orinoco do" and my thought replied "I'd speak to Toby".

Toby do you have any good wood offcuts such as mahogany or oak, anything with interesting colours. If you did, I would let you done the furry suit and big nose. Cheers mate
