I have an un-named 3-piece, 11' 2" split cane. Brass twist-and-lock ferrules. This was my Grandfathers rod (he died in 1975 aged 69/70) and he'd had the rod since he was a young man (I believe his father had given it to him).
My father was given it around 1975/1980 and then passed it onto a minister of the church, a fisherman and friend of his, who refurbished it to a good standard and may have used it a couple of times. I have never used it and it's been back in my possession since 1990, always been kept flat and it's very straight. Still in it's original cloth bag too I think. Well, it's very old-looking and a bit tatty and I assume it's the original!
Someday I'd really like it to go to a good home and although it has a nostalgic provenance to me and a familly history I don't have anyone to pass it onto through the familly.
Would anyone here have a clue as to how much such a rod would be worth?
As I said, eventually I'd like it to go to a good home where it will be looked after, admired and even used but I'm not exactly in a rush to part with it and not urgently looking for a quick sale. The question still remains for me to ponder.....how much is it worth?
Any new owner's care and appreciation of the rod would ultimately be more important than the cash.
