Default urgent bo mohlin help needed

my friend has a bo mohlin reel , its a 3.75" classic model , it has 2 check pawls and springs inside and a cog on the back of the spool , after much difficulty trying to get it back together we now find it is silent check , is this normal... hugely confused as to why it was so difficult to get it together again and why it has checks if it is silent check... help please..

Nacky, that doesn't sound right (pun intended)
I had an EM Salmon and that sang beautifully.

You could try asking the man himself:- Bo Mohlin of Sweden - Contact page

Did it click before you and your friend decided to service this lovely bit of kit?

The anti-reverse pawls are for the silent drag to work. There should be small 'ticks' on retrieve as the pawls engage.

thank you for the reply , firstly let me say that i have opened up and serviced hundreds of reels with many different check systems , and to the naked eye the bo mohlin system is very simple , but what seems to happen is that the cog on the back of the spool does not fall down onto the checks , it kind of sits on top of them because the springs push the points of the pawl to the central spindle , im assuming that it only clicks one way for right hand wind and locks in when turned the other way and that makes the disc drag comes into play , it looks so simple to me but the spool will not click down into place and engage the pawls into the cog teeth , perhaps im missing something simple , the picture you posted b4 is exactly what we have..
