In the 50s and 60s a number of tackle shops in the London area made their own rods based on cane blanks produced by Bob Southwood of Croydon.
The fact that he had transfers made (and the fact that there are a few Williams rods still around) would suggest that they were made in some quantity.
Another builder supplying "own label" rods on bought-in blanks at the time was Archie Harrison of Horizon Tackle in Redditch. You'd be surprised whom he was making for.
On the other hand, T J Harrington, makers of the Omnia and Gemina reels and the Gat air pistol, operated (and still do) in Walton. It might have been one of their brands.
