Hi all , new poster here.
I'm new to fly fishing ,but ,when younger I fished the Forth and Clyde canal , Kelvin , Glazert ,Luggie ,Banton res, the Carron etc all my local waters...with anything that could be put on a line and cast.
Having now started to learn the fly fishing ,I remembered my old grandads fly rod might still be at my dads.
So I thought I'd dig around in his hoose to find it...and lo and behold.
It's an old 3-piece 9,6' wooden rod , its not cane, its got brass reel fittings which look like they've been pinched in to tighten around the handle of the reel, it had crumbling rusty snake eyes , the sections have brass inserts...its heavily varnished ,looks as if it might have a wee scroll thing around the very bottom of the first piece but at the top of the tapered 'butt' and the only thing I remember my grandad saying about it was it was a 'greenheart'.
It looks antique...he's been dead for around 31 years and he was 70 odd then..does anyone know where I can get help to identify this rod , I'd like to put new eyes on it and try and restore it,but as a keepsake only ,not as a working rod.
Thanks all.
