Default Any info on webley & scott 'stream' glass rods?

I picked a pair up on *bay and would like any info on their history - approx age, source of blanks. W&S were primarlily firearms makers A.F.A.I.K. The rods say 'Made in England' but they do not look like hardy UK fibatube blanks - but a great deal like the (fairly similar actioned) darker brown Fisher glass blanks used by winston, sci anglers and others in the 1970's

Hi

I use a Webley and Scott streamfly 8ft AFTM 6. I love it and have owned it from new since I was a lad, bought it in the mid 1980's. It is being used on the river constantly now, I love the soft casting and playing action of the fibre glass and find a number 6 line is brilliant at all displines on the river, you really don't need 3 and 4 weights with such a soft slow action as this rod has. I have twinned the rod with the 1st reel I ever purchased, a Rim fly Intrepid Lightweight.

The rod was made in Birmingham, probably about the late 1970's early 80's. I remmber it wasn't much more than about £20 at the time I bought it (1985). Not sure on the value now, but if you like a slow action rod why not stick with it and fish it.

Thank you. I am advised the blanks are from Bruce and Walker

Default Webley and Scott Rods

The Harris and Sheldon Group, which owns Hardys and Greys, did own Webley and Scott in the 1980s.
I suspect the rods were made with Fibatube blanks. The 11ft Webley and Scott course rod I have certainly looks like Fibatube blanks.

Hi Mark, i used to own a webley and scott rod.
It was a 6ft 1" brook rod made up on a Fibretube blank.
If i remember it was sold through Jack Stevens Tackle Shop in Cradely Heath, Birmingham.
Hope this is usefull.
