Default Lure identification help.

I recently came across this old spinning lure but have been unable to identify it. It has no stamped makers name or patent number that i can see, The body revolves on a central spindle that has the hook and swivel attached at opposite ends. There is engraving on both sides of the body and the eyes appear to be made from glass beads in small metal settings.
Any help in aging and identifying this lure is appreciated.
Some photos.

If memory serves this one is in Chris Sandford's Book on the Subject of Aged British Spinning Baits .

Not to hand at work - when I get home I'll have a flip through and let you know ( assuming my mind isn't playing tricks ! )

Best wishes

Steve Parton

Thank God - mind still working !

It appears to be a 'Clipper' spinner devised by Gregory of Birmingham between 1872 - 1880ish !

It is precisely photographed on page 104 of Chris Sandford's Book ' The Best of British Baits .'

In the example photographed there is a red wool tail on the treble - no doubt but on yours the moths have probably disposed of it ! Otherwise the photo is exact down to the markings !

Best wishes

Steve Parton

Given that Chris has a better example and is maybe the only serious collector in the UK - I don't think you are going to get rich selling it !

Thanks again Steve. I wont be selling it. It will make another nice addition to my growing lure collection.
