Thumbs up Vintage "Thistle" 4 piece 10'

Please forgive my ignorance on the vintage market and / or brands...
My Dad has been fly fishing since the 40's and has asked me to do some research on a couple of split bamboo rods he has from Aberdeen, Scotland.

One is easily recognizable as I was able to find the brand right away... a Sharpe #5. 2 piece and in great condition....
The other... a bit more of a mystery to me and apparently on the web as well...
It is a four piece rod complete with plugs for the sockets and the oddest part is that it's made by Thistle. I've found tons on the web about Thistle reels but narely a mention of any split bamboo rods....
Can anyone help me with this? It has a serial no 30530 on the back of the reel mount. It was also apparenly purchased though a J. Dickson & son catalog, The craftmanship on this rod is far superior than the smaller sharpe...
Thanks for any info....

Yemita

I think Alex Martin used the "Thistle" name.

You are dead right Alex Martin of Royal Exchange Square Glasgow indeed, did sell a rod called "The Thistle". A delightful shop in it's day if somewhat up market for us poor kids. Sadly long gone.
The reels "The Thistle" I believe were from Wm. Robertson of Wellington Street & are quite eagerly sought after.
