Default Reels

A friend of mine brought a couple of old reels into the shop this morning. They belong to his father and asked me how much they would be worth. I honestly have no idea and wondered if the forum could help.

Any ideas as to value? Are they desirable at all?
There are no makers markings on them

have a look here at completed listings on ebay for starback reels (bottom one) should give you a rough idea.

The top one brings up this

Thanks for the reply Rhodietiger, judging by your links without makers markings they look to be worth between 10 and 20 pounds. It is probably worth him placing them up on ebay and seeing what he can get, these sort of reels seem quite common but collectable none the less

I sold one last week on the bay. It was very pretty, 3" in diameter, dated around 1900. Thought it may make a few bob. 23.00 to be exact, no name same as.

Hi

There is a lot of collectors for those wooden reels .And the prices over the last few years are going up.

Why not keep them ?
They look really nice in a case.......
