Default Thoughts on an old salmon reel?

Hi,

I have an old reel which carries no makers name or address. The reel is stamped 'AB' and 2 on the inside. The spool is stamped on the inside '2'. It is set up to use right hand wind and has a line guard. I have heard that unmarked reels were often copies made by people who worked for tackle manufacturers. Could AB refer to Alfred Broadley?

All thoughts gratefully received.
cheers
Fenton

Hi Fenton,

You have a nice, post war Dingley reel. 'AB' initials appeared in a few reels from the Dingley shop
What diameter is it?

Hi Fenton, I can't help with the ID but it sure seems to be a handsome reel. Enjoy fishing it!

Hi Fenton, it is conceivable that the AB, in your reel, was Alfred Broadley as the last reel I have ever saw with his initial is a 1919 Hardy Perfect and he was about 62 years old then and may have taken a job with Dingley in later years as I believe you have a Walker Bampton reel and that style was speculated to have been made circa 40's.
