I can't imagine why, the ones you have do a fine job of holding down the table cloth already Nice collection!

Real nice...
Do you use them, and which one is your favorite.

obviously i cant use them all but i do use a select few..modern reels are simply mostly korean made rubbish. they have too many un-neccessary features and they are almost silent check,,you cant beat the zzzzzzzzzz of an old reel. why anyone would want a modern reel is beyond me..i have 1 modern reel and its a pfleuger trion which is pretty cheap but just as good as anything else on the market , why pay £4-800 for a modern hardy or similar when you can own a piece of history for the same money..that is my opinion but i do understand that some people like new stuff although i just dont get it..you could get a condex or a beaulite for about £50 and it will serve you well and will scream like a coffee grinder when u get a fish..to me that is the essence of salmon fly fishing.. but this one is my favourite , its a malloch early scroll logo wood (lignum vitae) and brass perth style reel 4.5" with loud check. i do like modern rods though , i have many rods but my favourite is a ron thompson innovation 15ft , only cost £79.99 and i have taken hundreds of fish on it and in between using it i have snapped a 15ft B&W norway and a B&B 16ft 6" walker go figure!! i bought a B&W 15ft expert on ebay last nite for about £65 so we will see how we get on with that but its purely for speycasting (which i dont do a lot of)

I find that a very sweeping statement nickynackynoo.
I have some old reels, some new reels, and some very futuristic Ari T Harts.
There is a place for all of them in my house.
My wife is on her second Korean made car, and in 8 years of ownership, we haven't had to replace a light bulb, so I think that gives the Korean/Chinese/ Japanese market some credit.
Most Orvis and Sage reels are probably made in a far eastern country, as are a lot of the Hardy's these days, but it doesn't detract from their quality IMO.
Many on this forum, who are beyond you, may not be in the privelaged situation you are, to be able to have a dining room full of antique reels, but I am sure they are very proud of the reels they own, and don't require you or anyone else to advise them not to buy them.
I have several of those reels over 4" but they are not for sale.
Good luck with your collection.
S.
