Default After some info on a few old inherited rods...

Hi all,

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, as i know absolutely nothing about fly fishing or the tackle involved.

But, i recently inherited 3 of my late grandads fly rods. I'm just after a bit of info on them. As far as i can remember he stated they were all bloody good rods, back when they were new.

All i'm after is a bit of background on these, i.e. dates, quality, possible value? (by the way, my grandad looked after his tackle, and these are all in brand spanking new condition)

Anyway, these are the rods, and what is written on them:

- House of Hardy, #7/8, Graphite, De-Luxe, 10 1/2 ft. 1IJ98919

- House of Hardy, Jet, 9ft, O/B.

- Bruce and Walker, Carbon, Reservoir Fly, 10ft, DT8 ST9.

Well, thanks in advance for any info you can give me. And, just to let you know, i do not plan on selling any of these rods as they were my Grandads pride and joy and could never bear to let them go.

All fairly ordinary and fairly bog standard fly rods of some years ago. Both Hardy and B&W are good English tackle makers and at the time these were made Hardy were one of the best.

At 9' the Hardy Jet is likely to be a trout river rod and was a "budget" model, the other two are stillwater trout or sea trout rods that would work from bank or boat. Hang on to them as memories of your Grandfather as they're not old enough to have any great value and not new enough to be contemporary.

I'm no expert but I'd say no more than £100 - £150 the lot assuming they're in good condition.

I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”

Thanks for the info. And don't worry, they won't be going anywhere.

Oh, and in the last ten minutes i've just found another 2 fly rods. Don't know if these are as old, or of the same quality?

-Bruce and Walker, #9, Mark 1.

-Kassnar, Karboflex, 9 1/2ft, #7-8.

Same as before, if anyone else has info on these 2 as well, it'd be massively appreciated.
