Default mitre-hardy the nymph #4

Does anyone know about anything about this rod manufacture era value etc? it belongs to a work mate its marked up, the nymph trout rod made by mitre-hardy no56224 and its an 8' #4 or was by the looks of it its been damaged and its now 7'6, the first stripper ring is cracked but all the whippings and varnish down the cane look spot on. shame about the missing 6"

he'd be quite happy for any information at all as he's a non a angler.

cheers martin

I'll add some pictures later

I wouldn't bother with the pics my friend.

Funny how people think broken and abused cane are worth something, alas it is rarely true, though I have seen some astonishing junk in antique shops for £80

Mitre Hardy was a utilitarian range brought out during/after the war I think, and made for a lowish price cf mainstream Hardy.

My estimate is that you might get a tenner for someone as a restore project but I think that is pushing it.

Immacculate & collectable rods go at auction around £380 £420 that is Marvels, CCs Phantoms, so a broken mid-market model , mmm

The Longbow was deseigned by Les Moncrief a Hardy rod too I think.

My friend at school (late 60's) had a Moncrieff Springheel which I think was Sportex or some other brand.

Cracking beachcaster, couldn't say regarding value - £40 I'd guess, I sometimes sell old salmon fly rods in good nick but old fashioned Hardy Jets & old B&Ws and they tend to fetch £40 - £65 as a rule. Worth trying a sea forum. Actually given the Hardy name it could be worth more, maybe pushing £100, but it isn't a market I know, I'm just guessing.

The nymph rod might make a useful rod less the top 6" you never know, but there isn't any value there imho, I feel awful saying that but I think you will find it so. Could try e-bay?
