Thanks again Gary,yes i had noticed a few of Steves rods for sale on Ebay and like you say they looked really nice.I always intended to pay a visit to his shop if i was up that way.

Hi Christian,thanks for the information, just looked it up and it appears to have sold.
As for the price,$400 around £250 in English money is around the figure i was expecting to pay for a rod in very good condition.
Good cane rods below 8ft dont come cheap.
New to the internet really, so had not checked out the classic fly rod site.will add it to favourites!
Looks like i have missed this one.

Don't know if you are aware, but there is one of these on ebay at the moment. It's £395 buy it now. Search 'wallop cane' on ebay and it's the only item that comes up. Sounds a lot to me....

Hi Stuart, yes i had seen the rod on Ebay,but thanks all the same for letting me know.
I have put an offer in for the rod which i thought was a fair amount,but it was not excepted!
I recently missed out on a mint conditioned rod being sold by a dealer,who was asking under £300.Looking at the handle,the rod on offer has been well used,so you have to set your bid accordingly. Maybe the seller will have a change of heart and contact me.
I have a restored Fosters of Ashbourne 7ft Airsprite rod which i cant wait to try out in the coming season,so all is not lost.
