Default Black Prince

Guys

I was taught to fish with a Black Prince cane rod in the late 60's. Would be interested to get my hands on a woking version to use again. I last saw one for sale in the old fishing shop in Kelso back in the mid 80's but stupidly did not purchase it.

From memory the Black Prince was a three piece 10' split cane made by Moores and I think sold through the Rankins shop in Belfast.

Anyone ever come across one of these. A beast of a rod but brings back fond memories of summer evenings on Antrim rivers and lakes, and of those old hands no longer with us.

Can't remember the name of the shop. I think it was in the square in the left hand corner as you looked towards the hotel. It sold a range of second hand tackle - most of it in the window. The Black Prince was included in a wide range of split cane rods. The elderly guy in the shop offered to let me try the rod but I was rushing for the ferry and planned to return the following month. Never did get back for almost 10 years!

Forests used to be in the square then moved to Bridge St around 5 years ago, Tweedside Tackle has been in bridge st as long as I remember. both sold 2nd hand stuff, both great shops. Hotel either Ednam House or Cross Keys.
