Default what reel for a 1968 edgar sealey rod ?

what reel for a 1968 edgar sealey rod ?

decided to occasionally use a brand new edgar sealey rod that i inherited from my grandfather ..... I have a KP morrits intrepid reel but not sure if it is from the same era , what reels were out then that would compliment the rod ?

pictures would be good as im 25 and names and makes are not my stronger point when it comes to vintage tackle .

cheers mark

When I started stillwater fishing I used to go over to Chew and use a 10' Edgar Sealy "Black Arrow" sea trout rod that weighed a ton for chucking a shooting head from the bank. I first matched it to an Intrepid Rimfly and then upgraded to a Gearfly.

My arm hurt so much at the end of the day that I had to steer the car one handed!

did they have cars bk then ?

sewinbasher , the rod is very heavy and seams to be a very slow action where im use to my fast action rod .. think ill have enough time to pull out and light a fag on my back cast !!!! I'll be happy if i caught 1 fish on it and then put it bk in its sleeve and bk up the loft . Think the old man would have wanted me to use it as he never got the chance

I got the original box and instructions for a K.P Morritt reel - marked RIM FLY. The guy I bought it from said 1965 - the line sizes quoted in the literature are the old HDH or HCF style rather than the later DT5 or WF6...

No, - this is the cardboard box the reel came in..

N.B. - the reel does not say "Rim Fly" - just the box and instructions
