Default Hardy Koh-I-Noor

I'm looking for any information regarding Hardy's stunning rod the Koh-I-Noor, sadly I don't own any of their expensive vintage catalogues but if anyone can recommend a particular edition for me to buy that would be helpful too.

cheers Craig

Craig, Nice rod.
If you go to Highfields, Canada, site and look under Information, you can date your rod.

When you've got the date let me know and I'll send you a scan of the catalogue page

Brian

Hi Brian,
Thank you for the kind offer, I've attempted to date the rod and I'm a little confused. The registration number dates the rod as July 1973 but the rod name directory states that it was in production between 1935 and 1972. I can only assume the blank was built in '72 and left to be finished until the following year, could this be the case ?
cheers Craig

hmmm
Craig, what is the number?

Sounds typical Hardy; just when you think you know something, facts prove you wrong.
(I suspect the lists are compiled from when the rods were catalogued, not necessarily made)
(I've just checked the James Hardy book and it says the same as Highfields)

Brian

Hi Brian,
The registration number is H42537C, it all looks original so I don't think it's a replacement reel band.
cheers Craig

Hi Craig,

That's a 1961 Rod
(I can't remember what the final 'c' means . . anyone?)

I'll do you a scan of the 57 catalogue this evening [PM me your e mail addy]

Nice toy btw.

Brian

Hi Brian,
You should have a PM, it will be a very nice toy once Paul Cook has worked his magic on it, all the guides and ferrule are loose. I've matched it with a (hopefully appropriate) 31/2" Bougle, do you use cane too or are you a collector ?
cheers Craig

Hi Steve
Thank you for the offer, I already have a tatty Koh-I-Noor that's going to Paul Cook for re-whipping & new ferrule but I would be very grateful for your opinion of the rod if you have used it ?
cheers Craig
