Default hardy perfection

I cant really see this passing as vintage, but none the less it doesnt seem modern to me

i was given a hardy perfection 9' 7#, very nice rod, a little old for me though. I was wondering what it might be worth? i have no idea how old it is but it is of the post-bamboo-era

green whippings and snake guides, full wells cork handle with fighting butt.

plus any history on it? a few years ago i noticed hardy sold stillwater perfection rods but this one is simply a perfection. if only i were old enough to apreciate

thanks but theres no perfection there that isnt bamboo/greenheart

possibly the rod was custom made? or someone else had made it from a blank? it came in a genuine hardy rod bag and has the genuine reel seat

Hardy used to make glass rods series called Fibalite Perfection. Made on glass blanks, whippings are kind of greyish-greenish-brownish depending on light, with red endings. Below a spigot there is a black reinforcement. Reel seat is also the one that was used on some HArdy glass rods as well as Graphite. One of best looking reel seats ever IMO. If the rod is a Fibalite Perfection, the value would be somewhere between 30-100GBP. I like old Hardy glass, have 3 Perfections, but normaly rods below 8` sell best as this is the optimum lenght for glass. Prices can get much higher than 100GBP for some rods, normaly in unused condition or some models (short rods normally), if you are lucky enought that two enthusiasts fight over same rod. But realistically speaking, under 100GBP. I have 3 Fibalite Perfections i don't think any was over 100gbp and if it was it was not much over. But those are shorter rods which are the most popular, unless your rod is a model which is wanted by collectors/glass lovers, it should be lower than that. But it really depends, try on ebay you might get lucky. Sometimes great rods go for little money, sometimes prices just go up. It really depends on each auction.

Just one advice if you put it on ebay. Do sell internationally. A lot of sellers from UK are only selling to UK.There were some instances that i was willing to pay twice or even more for what the rod went in the end, plus shipping but the seller would not ship inside EU. There are many fishermen who like old HArdy rods outside UK, so it will increase your chances. I am not interested in the rod btw., so that is just an honest advice.

thats the one!!! im pretty sure its a glass rod.

i agree with what you are saying it was a little heavy for me but i was like 12 years old when i cast it!

thanks for all the info. would you have any interest in it? im not really bothered about making money from it but if you have anything for a swap id be up for it? would be nice to know it would be going to a good home.
