At that price I would rather buy a top-end modern fly rod.

Methinks them overpriced!

of course, thats my humble opinion and Mrs SKB says that dont count alot in any case.

Still, have you googled these makes/models and see if they come up elsewhere?

Also, check on eBay by looking through 'completed' listings for prices realised at close of bidding. Alcoks dont go for a huge amount

best of luck.

Agree totally with above. Assuming each in good original condition, the Hardy is worth £100 - £120, the Walker-Bampton a little less - say £70 - £90. The President was an Allcock model - a boat rod for inshore sea fishing. I think it was seven feet long. Value today around £40 - £50.

The reel is more difficult; there are some crazy reel collectors out there. Depending on the model it could be worth anything from £1 to £100. I am not aware of any Allcock brass reels other than the simplest of winches, but even these can (if a rare model in first class condition) fetch absurd sums.

The reel aside, keep your chequebook safe for now - perhaps break it out for one of the new Hardy glass rods? The reel needs research, but might - and it's a slim chance - be a bargain. More likely its a pub decoration worth less than a pint.

Absolutely right Threerivers -you may even be a little generous in your prices.
Steer well clear of this stuff -someone is having a laugh. -The rods will make good runner bean sticks though!.
