JW Youngs reel, I have reels from the same stable that belonged to my grandfather, The Ambidex.
I would hazard a guess that its from the 40,s or 50,s.

Hers another of similar age, This one by Sealey maybe slightly younger. The internals will operate in the same way,Worm gear to rotate the spool and a piston to move the spool up and down during rotation.Ambidextrous handle. Superb engineering.

good engineering like you say , i'd hate to look inside a modern reel to see nothing but plastic probably !

i like the nostalgia with the classic gear .

I suspect that this reel was also manufactured by JW Youngs for Sealey as all parts are interchangeable with the Ambidex.
