Default Milbro Verre

I have an old Milbro Verre flyrod F109, 11foot 3 peice. I dont think i will ever use the rod for fishing but i am interesred to find out what rated line would be suitable if i decided to have a cast with it.
Printed on the but section is the AFTM rating which i dont understand, It recomends a line of 7 grains per foot. Can anyone tell me what this would equate to in a modern day line?
Thanks in advance.

The 11ft Verre F109 was a light double handed rod for Sea Trout/Grilse. It was part of a three rod set
F110 12ft
F111 13ft
I would have thought that a 7/8 line would be about right. This was one of Milbro's better rods & was well thought off at the time. Indeed if I could find a 11ft in pristine condition I would buy it if the price was right. I have seen a few for sale at dealers but the asking price was far too much.

Thanks for that Highlander. The rod is in excellent condition and in its original bag. Another feature of the rod that i haven't seen before is the reel seat, It can be moved to whatever position along the cork handle and when the reel is fitted and tightened the seat is locked in position. Pretty novel idea.

I had the 12' rod and though it was a tad heavy, Loved it for salmon/seatrout on the big loch(Loch Lomond) It was my fathers before me.and it held many sweet memories.

but a scumbag junkie stole it from me.for which no redemption is possible.

This table should help.

Seven grains per foot makes 210 grains, weigh the first thirty feet, which makes it a #8

It was well thought of in it's day but I doubt many would be interested now.,
With the exception of me looking for one "as new" but I am not looking to pay silly money for it. If I see one on E Bay I will have a bid but if I do not get it, not the end of the world. At I guess I would have thought about £40-£70 depending on condition but you never know if there were a couple or three interested it might go for more. Remember it is quite a heavy fibre glass rod in comparison to todays models. A fibre glass Hardy would raise more though
