I don't believe it has ever been cast as there are not even any hairline cracks in the varnice over the whipping even near the ferrules.
Can anyone tell me anything about it other than what I know about either that rod or the others below:
1. Mitre Hardy #7 Invicta sea trout 3 piece 11' (perfect possibly unused cond) Cane
2. Allcocks Sapper 10' Cane
3. Wells Maker Edin(burgh?) 4 piece 16'?? Greenheart
4. Anderson and sons Princes St Edinburgh 3 piece 12' 'The Dunkeld' Greenheart
5. FT Williams Ltd London 'The Dewell' has 'Au FTW Craftsman Rod' on it 2 piece approx 7'6" Cane
6. And an interesting looking un-named Greenheart rod with hardy brass fittings througout 3 piece with spare top sect.

I bought a Mitre-Hardy "Invicta" in 1963-4 (not quite sure) and used it with a No.4 'Kingfisher' silk line (about #7-8). It was quite a pleasant rod to use on the small-to-medium river and suited my more relaxed style of fishing.
Mitre-Hardy produced a series of rods at that time for the budget-conscious angler. They were not up to the normal Hardy standard of course and that was reflected in the price..
Here are some pages from the catalogue which came with it..
Your Allcocks' "Sapper" was produced for quite a long time and was a powerful workhorse of a rod, suitable for sea-and lake trout fishing. It would probably be far too heavy for todays' fishermen/women but it sold well at the time-and many survive in collections today..
If yours is a good example-hang on to it.
