Question Dibro Devon Minnows.

These moulded plastic devons were very popular about 40 years ago. They had brass fins and were usually bought direct from the makers, who were the Halifax Bait Company (if my memory serves me right) in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Does anyone know what happened to this company? Or does any one have a supply of these minnows hidden away? I would like to obtain some! Please
send me a PM if you can help.

Many thanks.

I have these, sorry not selling-they have too good a balance and the fins can be adjusted, but I think the way to obtain a good supply is to buy a mould.

Hi, I still use them today... in the 2" length I find this is the best size, I paint them up to look like irish minnows and have caught a good few salmon and seatrout on them when the river is just starting to clear. I did a search for them once and found a few on ebay might be still on there, I thought they came from Liverpool.
cheers Glyn

Default Dibro Devon shells

Your spot on Glyn,
Dibro had a prefabricated building / factory, at the bottom of Bridge rd in Seaforth nr Liverpool, it was on waste land nr the Railway station. They made all manner of small plastic toys & Minnow shells, I wish I could get hold of some of the early ones now..I gave hundreds away ( I had two friends who worked there) .

Knew I had some, 10 in total mostly 3" with a few 2.5" unfortuately all handpainted by my goodself with Humbrol paints.Having sais that the Yellow Bellies still look quite good. Still have the Dibro name & patent number on the adjustable vanes Even found an original packet of mounts with their wee red beads. God they bring back memories, No sign of painting jigs though. Somebody wanting them?
Make me an offer I can't refuse & they are yours.

This is breaking my rule about posting about items other than fly, but I am sure these are Halifax Devons. I am sure that Dibro were different. (Sorry about picture quality)
