Oh, just a thought, There are to my knowledge two types of Moscrops, a Brass one with a fishing scene on it, and the one with the pinned arbor and seven holes in the spool. My comments apply to the latter, I've never handled the fishing scene reel.

Here's one of the articles
http://www.oldfishingstuff.com/fk_moscrops.htm.
The Manchester reel was designed by John B Moscrop, a manufacturer of textile mill machinery, and a prominent member of the Manchester Angling Society. He took out patents for what would become the "Manchester" reel in 1888 and 1891.
The reel also includes features covered by patents of Reuben Heaton of Birmingham, and I believe that it was actually manufactured by them. Samuel Allcock's acted as agent for it between 1893 and 1929, and later reels included the Allcock's name.
The "Fisherman's Scene" reels were definately made by Reuben Heaton, and I have not seen or heard of an original example bearing the Moscrop name.
