J.J.S. Walker Bampton reels are very "collectable". In 1911 they employed an ex-Hardy reelmaker called William Henry (Walter) Dingley to run their reel making department, and he left in 1919 to start his own company but still made reels for Walker Bampton.
Take the spool off the reel and look inside. If it is a Dingley, there will be a letter D stamped on the backplate together with a number, and the spindle will have a square base to help screw it in.
Look after it - it's valuable, as well as being special to your Grandfather..
regards,
Doc
