I bought a rod "The Gnat" 8ft for line 4 a couples of years ago, and this rod is really nice to cast and to fish with. The taper is a bit slow, but i like rods on the slow side.
I think this rod is made in the beginning of the 60thīs ?

Mats,
Mitre-Hardy produced a series of rods in B/C for fly, spinning & coarse fishing, as you correctly say, in the '60s. They were built more to a price than quality, but were nevertheless, quite well finished and appealed to the more budget-conscious.
I have their catalogue for 1964 and your 'Gnat' is described thus:
"A very fine quality two piece rod.
SPECIFICATION:
Black and Gold anodised screw grip reel fitting, rubber button, agatipe butt and end rings, fullopen bridge intermediate rings.
Green whippings, bronzed brass reinforced ferrules.
Two Piece 8 ft., 8 ft. 9 in.
Ģ7-7-6 (incl P.T.) "
(Purchase tax)
It was quite a nice rod for the money...keep hold of it..and thanks for posting it.
