Default Varnish used on 1961 Palakona

Recently bought a nice Palakona, the rod is going to be used for fishing and is ok, exept small crack in varnish under female part of the ferrule. I am going to fill it/cover it with new varnish and was hoping someone would know what was used as original varnish on those rods. Or what would be compatible with varnish that is on it at the moment.
