Default British Engineerium

Just been going through amy collection of old tackle catalogues and other ephemera and chanced upon a catalogue called "One Man One Rod at the British Engineerium".
Having never even looked at it previously (I must have obtained it either with a lot of books at auction or car boot sale) I discovered that it is a list of more than 600 vintage fishing tackle items on display at a museum in Hove near Brighton which appears to be for devoted to British engineering.
I googled the museum and found that it is still in existence but closed in November for refurbishment. I am quite annoyed that I knew nothing about this museum as I took my wife to Brighton at the end of October and could have visited the place.
Has anyone on the forum been there and would you recommend it if I am in the area again?

The B/E once had a travelling exhibition in Salisbury or Winchester I think, in the late 80's. I went to it & it was magic, a real alladin's cave of beautiful tackle items one would be unlikely to see anywhere else. I have the same cat. as a reminder of a truley memorable afternoon there.

Thanks for that Arkle

I guess from the lack of replies from other forum members nobody else knows what we are talking about.
Hopefully I will get a chance to go to Brighton next spring and if the tackle is still there I will put it onto the forum site.
Thanks again

Mike

If they allow you to take pictures to post here, I'm sure other forum members would be interested in going along to see this fantastic collection.

I know it quite well as it was a favourite of school trips and holidays when I was a kid. Lots of giant beam engines, traction engines and the like and a good chronicle of the industrial revolution. I've not been for years but pass it often. It's actually in Hove - http://www.britishengineerium.com/

I sort of remember the fishing tackle display now it has been mentioned but have a reason to go again next year perhaps to check it out properly once more.
