Sorry that I didn't make myself clear - it's one of the problems I often have - I know what I mean but few other people do.
With a Wheatley dry fly box there is a block of compartments in the middle where all of them are a like. They are rectangles with frames around the windows or doors and clear in the middle. At both ends of the dry fly sections there are windows or doors that are shaped like a quarter circle. These were originally cut from sheet aluminium and did not have a see through section, later the aluminium had an oval cut out in it which was filled with the transparent material and finally the doors or windows followed the patten of the rest of the lids. if you are interested in seeing what these all look like try visiting the Richard Wheatley Museum via this link
Wheatley Museum - Richard Wheatley Museum where there are examples of the early two photographed.
What I am trying to find is someone who has a 32 compartment dry fly box with aluminium sheet as the window as this will help me date the introduction of this box.
Thank you to all that have read this and everyone who helps me with my research
