Default Mullocks Auction

Has anyone bid online for a tackle auction? How did you get on?

I watched Mullock's auction yesterday online and it appeared that repeatedly there were still online bids coming in when the auctioneer brought the hammer down. With 700 or 800 lots to get through I know they have to rattle along but frequently they didn't seem to allow any time for a response from online bidders.

Having watched a few online auctions, and been successful only rarely, that is a sad fact. Auctioneers tend to go faster than any refresh rate.

[I see the Book Prices are listed from Friday, but no main auction numbers yet]

That's a shame, frustrating for both buyer and seller, not to mention the commission they're throwing away. The online bids were appearing on screen before the hammer quite often but the reaction of whoever was monitoring the computer, was frequently not fast enough.

I guess you can't beat being there.

Hi
Best I find is to do a Telephone bid that way you hear whats happening in the Sale room , they then ask you do you want to bid and if you do you are then in full control "( But you wallet's not! )

I see Paul Boote's book and DVD fetch well over the suggested price (item 1102) The prices for most of the books was on the low side.

Extraordinary, perhaps Sabu was bidding.

they allow plenty of time , it wouldnt make sense not to , the problem could be individual broadband speeds , there was loads of lots i bid on and got outbid at the last second with onliners...

I don't think it has anything to do with individual broadband speeds.
There were many lots where someones internet bid appeared on my screen (so presumably on Mullocks also) before the hammer, yet they weren't taken.

As far as the last minute is concerned surely it's the auctioneers duty to the seller to take the highest price bid.

Would think that if bid was on Mullocks screen they'd take it.The auctioneers got a lot of lots to get through and only one pair of eyes. For the people who've made the effort to attend the auction, hanging around for internet bidders is frustrating and makes a long day even longer.
After being stung a few times making commission and phone bids blind now only bid on lots I've actually seen.Going by the relatively few viewers on Friday I'd say quite a few internet bids were blind bids
Just hope these auctions don't go along the same route as Langs i.e.internet only(isn't eeebay enough?)
To me there's nothing like being there, plus the added bonus of the trade stands.
I do however realise that some people can't make it for whatever reasons or don't want people to know who is bidding

Well I agree and I've enjoyed going to Mullocks auctions in the past, before internet bidding was introduced. If I intended to buy a few items I would still make the 500 mile round trip.

However, this was the first time I've followed the auction online and it was clear that not all online bids were recognised.
