Default Upcoming Redditch show, should I bother ?

I have not been to the last 3 or 4, but I did attend a few prior to that. When I did attend I only actually saw things that I liked to a value of approx. £20-50.

With the cost of travelling these days I could have saved my travel costs and just bought from the aution site. So why bother ?

Any thoughts here ?

BTW I collect Redditch and Swedish lures and smalls.

Cheers, Mike.

Just looked on their web site and they are advertising for 21st nov 2010 Is it on the 20th this year, can't seem to find correct info-any idea?

Hang on, just found it. New venue Kingsley Sports Centre, Woodrow, Redditch, B98 7UH. 9am sharp.

I am not going this time. Shame but I have to work. I always find something really good at the National Vintage Tackle Fair in Redditch and often something that I didn't know about. I am really sorry to be missing it. So go on take a chance - if not it's a good place for a "natter" with the like minded

Hi Mike,
Not all traders use auction sites.I haven't stood at Redditch for the last couple of times but usually find something to add to my collection and move on surplus tackle.Personnally love the thrill of finding something unusual or different. Can find some real bargains.Probably sold things too cheap myself but we can't know everything. Also a good place to see/handle stuff that we'd probably only see in books
Regards Mike

it's the cost that put's me off, i live up north and with petrol prices as they are i tend to use that money to buy something from ebay.

i may be going this year as i have a lot of stuff to move on, but it will mean stopping overnight on the sat + the price of a table yet more expence!!!

maybe one year there will be one up north.

I live in Salisbury and have never been to the Redditch Fair but for this upcoming fair my wife and I are getting a room at a cheap travelodge or something like that and making a weekend of it. Twice a year we have a vintage tackle fair at Romsey School in Hampshire the next one being March 11th 2012, that always proves interesting. However we do find that it is all over by lunchtime even though it is supposedl to finish later. Does the same apply for the Redditch Fair?

Hello Rondo,

I normally get around the stalls in about an hour. Consequently I am normally gone before 12:00 and I am not sure if it carries on.

Anyway since my original post I have bought a super rare bait on the Internet (Painted Roach) so I have no spare funds to take there this year in any case. Maybe I will consider visiting next Spring.

Cheers, Mike.

So,did anyone go?What was your impression?
Saw some amazing bits of tackle brought along by people just to show.Bought some nice things, sold a bit and met some great people.Must admit I thought it was much better than last time I went. And prices were very reasonable.

hi,
i went to get a couple of reels sorted by mill tackle, i found the car park a bloody joke as it was part of a bigger complex and a lot of people were parking anywhere. i did not see anything i liked at the right price.

it looked like the hall was not full of sellers so maybe i should have got a stall so i could sell my unwanted books and tackle, i did have a natter with a couple of colectors i know so that was good.

just a shame there is not one up north.

Hi further to my earlier comments on the thread I did go up to Redditch for the weekend. Got a reasonable deal at the Holiday Inn Express which was very good. It seems there were several others staying there going to the tackle fair as well. Pleased the wife by visiting Worcester on the way up and going to Ludlow on saturday(very nice).
The fair was interesting and met up with a few faces from my area Hants / Wiltshire.
However we were all surprised at how expensive many of the items were and how little the dealers were prepared to move on price. I thought this country was supposed to be in recession?
I went there with quite a bit of cash in my wallet and I came away with just 2 books (total £60) both published this year and paid nearly the rrp. I didn't see too much actually being sold but it was still an interesting time.
How one of the other threads says he only stays an hour is beyond me though, as I arrived before 9am and left at 12:30. It isn't a massive fair but I like taking my time and seeing whats on offer.
Certainly I would go again and do exactly the same i.e. make a weekend of it.And yes I agree about the parking, when we arrived no problem but when we left there were various cars driving around trying to find a space.
I would say my local vintage tackle fair at Romsey school Hampshire (next one 10th March 2012) is a bit smaller but always well worth a visit.
