I HAVE A CANE ROD BY WJ LONGMAN, ON THE LABEL ON THE ROD IT SAYS WJ LONGMAN, IRONMONGER, 256 BARRACK RD, CHRISTCHURCH, AND THE TELEPHONE NUMBER 518.THERE IS NO WEIGHT OR LENGTH ON THE ROD OR ANY OTHER INFO APART FROM THE NAME AND ADDRESS. IT IS IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION, HAS ANYONE ANY INFO AT ALL ABOUT THIS ROD OR ITS MAKER, THANKS

Longman's was (is?) a tackle shop in Christchurch, Dorset (I don't know the dates they traded - perhaps a Dorset lad may?) The 3 figure phone number may help date it - locals again needed.

The rod is most probably 'trade' - bought in, and badged for the shop.

I'd be interested in seeing some photos. What length is it, how many sections, bag, tube, etc?
