didn't notice there had been more replies to this

The concensus seems to be that its a trufly then - cant remember now why I'd ruled that out! I think I'd seen a pic of one and it was a different colour or something.

I've got a #8 line for another rod so I'll give it a go sometime to see how it feels.

It is indeed a Milbro Trufly, hollow glass, metal ferrules and if you were to take the reel fitting off you'd find it was mounted on what looks like a piece of gas pipe!

It's the rod I started out with in 1968 and, as Jim says, its weight made it a bit of killer - not necessarily of fish but certainly of your casting arm!

Had a go casting it when I was out practicing the other day, took a little getting used to but was actually really nice once I got the hang of it
They must have made guys tougher back then though I dont think I'd want to be fishing with it all day.
