Can anyone tell me anything about Alex Taylor,New York.My mate has a 4 1/4" Dingley "perfect" type reel(with a chunk missing from the rim)stamped with this name and also made in England on it and D1 inside.It has 1 stamped on both sides of the foot and twin perforated concentric circles with etched lines.At some point twin handles have been added(as one handle is on top of the "made in England" stamp.
As Alex Taylor is not mentioned in the Dingley book,I wondered if anyone knew of this retailer.

Mike, I found a reference to an Alex Taylor, Outfitters of New York, but never knew them connected to Dingley reels.
But they may have been.
Photos would be good.
The same post on Clarks may bring out some local knowledge?
