Default Early 3" Hardy Uniqua

I have a 3" Hardy's Uniqua: smooth brass foot, caliper check & ivorine (perhaps real ivory) handle. Stamped '6' inside next to the check.

What's unusual is that the drum plate has 4 cusps like those one early Perfects but which I've never seen on a Uniqua. Does anyone know how unusual this was?

I don't recall seeing cusps on a Uniqua.
It should also be 2 7/8" or 3 1/8" diameter?
Does yours have the "Hardy's Patent Uniqua Reel" stamp on the faceplate?
I'm told by someone who knows these reels much better than me that this was stamped on the faceplate of the earliest models - 1903 - 07.

The 1903 catalogue picture doesn't show cusps.

Would love to see photos

Brian

Brian,

Thanks for your answer. I've checked the measurement - it's 3.1/8".

Some pics are below. The cusps are quite clear in pic 2.

The writng on the face is:

Hardys Alnwick (top) and Hardy's Patent Uniqua Reel (bottom)

The foot is stamped 'A' on the central side.

Peter
