Default The Elan

I've recently been given a couple of old rods. First up is this one.
"The Elan", two piece 7'6".
This looks like it might be my new small river rod. I love the action.
Can anyone give me any information about the rod? An internet search hasn't turned up much.

How do I find out what weight line it casts?? Do I just put a line on and try it?

I'n not used to this 'pictures' thing but I've uploaded a few images to albums in my profile . I think!

Default Re: The Elan - Solved

Well, I managed to answer my own question after a couple of hours searching and trawling through ebay pictures.
I can't find anything about the rod I have but have seen similar.
Seems that it's tubular steel design, possibly dating from the 30s.

I hope it wasn't worth much.
I took it out to play with a 5# line this morning and after 20 minutes, it snapped on the backcast Due to internal rusting rather than my casting technique, naturally.
Oh well ... anyone know a good welder??
