Hi Guys,

I have a Hardy 11ft 7wt 'Fred Buller Graphite drifter' SH rod made in 1977. There is a 10mm diameter (unthreaded) hole in the end of the butt which looks as if a fighting butt was once installed there.

Can anyone tell me if there should be a fighting butt with this rod and if the answer is yes - where or from whom could I get a suitable butt ?

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi Nigel. Most of the longer Hardy rods have this design. I have 10.5 ft Viscount rod. I purchased a fighting butt for it, from the Hardy factory. If you email them, i'm sure they will give you all the help & assistance you require.

Thanks for your reply. I emailed Hardy's but they just came back and said they no longer had any parts etc.

I have contacted David Norwich who has been very helpful and could doubtless make a copy - provided he had a picture of the original !!!!!

Does anyone have a picture of the rod with the fighting butt / extension handle ?????????????
