Default Old Spinners/minnows.

Came accross these the other day, they appear to be made from fibreglass.
They are beautifully done and in excellent condition, anyone throw any light on them please, there are no makers mark.
Cheers S.

It's a long time since I saw something similar but I've no idea who made them. They look something like the old quill minnows that were around many years ago, with the tail treble and a flying treble or sometimes two flying trebles. The red/maroon binding round the hook shanks was used widely as far back as the 1950's and 60's.

Hi Stephen,

They're quill minnows all right. I can't help with the maker, but I know a little about the actual items. They should be self-weighted. You fish them with a single swivel to attach the trace to the mainline. Absolutely deadly for trout (even in very low water) fished upstream on a light line.

Sportfish used to sell similar quill monnows (I used to fish them) until around 1995.

As others have said they are quill minnows I have quite a selection. Excellent lures , You dont seem to see them for sale much now, But they have worked well for sea trout in the past when the streams are fining down but not ready for the fly.....

They are great little lures , good quality reliable swivels required up the line to avoid an infuriating birds nest filled afternoon. PJ

Classic examples of Quill Minnows - dozens if not hundreds of makers over the years .

Buggers to make till you're into the swing of it .

Lovely examples !

Best wishes
