openroad is on a distinguished road
Default I have had this rod for 20+ years can someone provide some info please

Close to 20 years ago when I first moved up to Rhode Island my weekend found me at an auction from a retired Capt. who had passed away. The wife was selling everthing. I purchased alot of fishing stuff and over the years gave alot away...my bro lives in Alaska and fishes all the time. Other friends also fish so rods reals lures etc...were give out. I did save a few items. The one rod in question appears new never used. The name is sila-flex bsp58r-3 this was taken by the cork handle and is the only printed info on the rod. It is a 3 piece rod. I have taken some pictures and would appreciate some history on the rod, company and ball park for value.

Looks like Glassfibre and with the very cheap fittings.(rings, reel slider) unless it's collectable in the states,I would say has very little intrinsic value,
Welcome to the forum.

I think this is what you have your hands on. Given the rods condition it's value would be close to 'zero.'

fiberglass fly rods / Silaflex

Default Same Ferrule

The ferrule looks the same as on my Milbro Gem, which I bought about 1973.
It seized up one evening and I had great trouble getting it up stairs to my B&B bedroom without snapping it in the firedoors.
It was very difficult to part. I had a 16 stone fireman one one end and a vicious yank from me parted them.
I still have the rod.
