Default Allcock Sapper 10' cane fly rod

I've just acquired an Allcock "Sapper" 10' cane fly rod in what appears to be, as with me, in amazing condition for its age - very little evidence of use! It has a gold label on the butt section and from my research on the forum this would indicate it was built between 1947 and 1958 (ish). Other comments on here suggest it was a bit of a work horse in its day, designed primarily for lake/loch fishing.

I'm tempted to give it a go on the tidal stretches of the Tweed for brownies with wet fly teamed up with a beaudex reel and a vintage silk line which I've been told is a #6. Does anyone remember this rod or have experience of using it? Would a #6 line be adequate?

thanks for any help

Kevin
