Default Old Hardy Rods

Hi guys,

I've been "sent over" from WorldSeaFishing.com in the hope that I may be able to get some good advice.

I've inherited a load of old rods from my late father - Hardy & Sharpes mainly. How would I find out what these rods are worth, and what would be the best way to sell them?

Thanks in advance!
Gary

Hi and welcome Gary,

Huge range of values - depends on condition, model, length, condition, age, ohh, and condition. Cane or other?

Post or PM a few details and then it can be narrowed down a bit.

Good luck
Brian

OK, here goes...

Hardy "The Wye" 12'6 #10
Hardy "The Nocturnal" Sea Trout 10'
Hardy "The No. 2 LRH" 9'6 Spin
Hardy "The Gold Medal" 9' 3pce (twin tip)
Hardy "The Hardy Wanless" 4lb Spin
Hardy "The Hardy Wanless" 9/10lb Spin
Hardy "The No.2 Hardy Wanless" 12' 3pce (twin tip)
Hardy "The Pope" 10'
Hardy "The Tournament" 11' 3 pce (twin tip)
Hardy "The Palakona" 15'
Hardy "The Perfection" 11'
Hardy "The Coquet" 13'

All are cane, in their bags, and are of course used rods.

My father was a bit of a fishing nut (as most are), and as well as collecting some amazing stuff, was also the man who introduced Penn Fishing Tackle to the UK and Europe, and our family remained at the helm of Penn Europe right up until the takeover by Purefishing in 2007. Dad certainly knew his stuff! These rods used to line the walls outside his office (penn didnt make too much Fly gear!)

What do you think?

By Gum! Tell us about the Sharpe's rods too please.

A fine selection of rods, generally salmon, spinning or sea trout.

I'm not too familiar with the longer rods and, as you are probably aware, the real keepers are the short fly rods. Saying that, the Perfection is one of my personal favourites.
[a sad fact is that these fine pieces don't seem to realise high values on e bay or forums like this]

As Richard says, bring on the Sharpes.

I'd suggest you fire the list, some photos and the provenance, to Neil Freeman or Mullocks

my 2p
Brian

I've asked at the Hardy Shop in Alnwick before.
Answer, if it's not brand new it's worth next to nothing.
