I have photographs of 3 cased barbel taken in that year. They killed them in those days Bruce.
I'll scan them if there is interest. A cased brace from the Ham Mill pool on the Kennet taken 11th Aug 1894 by W Kelsey. The heaviest 12 lb 12 oz and 30.5" long, the other 29.5" long weighing 10 lb 12 oz. Also one of 12
1/4lb taken at Newbury, again on the Kennet, by R. C. Blundell of the Piscatorial society.
I think the record was 14 lb 6 oz, later shared with Aylmer Tryon's Royalty British record (rod caught) fish taken on 13th September 1934 which was also set up. Bruce 'I dont think records were kept way back then' eat your heart out!
