Default "Auctioneers"

In 2009 I wanted to sell some old tackle - a number of collectable Hardy reels, centre pins, ariel coxon etc so no ****. I asked one well known auction house if they were interested and they said "their specialist would be in touch at his convenience" That was May 2009 - so far no one has been in touch.
Took them to another well known auction house where they were all sold barring a vintage centrepin. That was nearly 12 months ago, and despite emails asking for its return the reel has not been sent back. Anyone any ideas how to get it back rather than a 250+ mile drive or am I going down the road of solicitors letters

hello if you still have the original catalogue with your lots included and photos and original invoice with items sold and saying your centre pin not sold, or any info too the like including a photo of you c/p then copy originals and send with forwarding letter by post to be signed for stating they have not returned this reel, give them 7 working days to reply and return the reel or the send the estimated £s they gave in value. if no joy you can do a small claims court your self or tell everyone on here to avoid this company and email them in disgust. before all this read their disclaimer on reverse of c/logue. under english law there have a care and duty to look after items for auction. it does not matter how much your reel cost it is the principle. regards flyfishy61

Is there any one on here that lives locally to the Auctioneers that you could ask to call in on your behalf?

Good luck

Thanks everyone for your help, much appreciated.
I shall take flyfishy61's advice and get all my documentation together.
Possibly might use my legal expenses insurance to assist. Possibly could get someone to help collect but they only seem to have a warehouse with no one there most of the time. Depends on the reply as to whether I name and shame

hello thankyou for your kind words just to say extra, before you use your legal insurance as might have an excess loss , this company must have a company main office try google unless you know besides the warehouse. so send all details photo copies plus photo of reel if have, to the company office to be signed for by them giving them 7 working days to reply. if they reply found reel you might be able to get someone to pick up but i doubt it. try if they will send to you. if there is no reply then try your insurance. good luck keep us posted.

please dont do that until the 7 days are up ( name and shame) if they dont reply after 7 working days you can presume lost reel. in your after 7 days letter stress again you want reel returned or money you think value of. if after 7 working days you get no reply again you send a formal letter to be signed for keep copies, stating as you have not replied you will put this matter in hands of a solicitor for small claims court, stress your winning will also include costs, on bottom of letter put i am also thinking of name and shaming you on the fishing forum where many members i know use your auction house. i know this seems long winded it is from past experience but keep smiling go fishing if the final day comes and still no joy name and shame, regards flyfishy
