Mr O is on a distinguished road
Default Loch Venacher

Took a boat out on Loch Venacher on Saturday.
Bright sunshine , cool easterly breeze with infrequent patches of cloud throughout the day. The fishery manager explained that the water temp had dropped slightly over the week since opening and was sitting at 5 degrees so we should expect fish to be slightly deeper than opening day when fish had been caught using floaters, intermediate, gohst tips as well as sinkers.
We managed 9 fish to the boat, of these we had 2 wild fish which were in excellent condition.
Fishing was slow using intermediates and traditionals but a switch to sinking lines using a Gold or silver humungus type patterns improved things and accounted for 7 of our 9 fish.
Most of the fish came from boat house bay with a couple from the sailing club area. Never hit a fish across otter island which was one of the hot spots the previous week. All in all a good day out considering the temperature / bright conditions and the fish were all in good condition with an average weight of around 1lb. Beautiful water in great surroundings.
One thing i did notice was the increase in price for 2 anglers from £40 for a day to £49. Seems quite a big jump from one season to the next ???
Anyone else fished it this year ?

Will be on Menteith next week and Loch Awe soon so will hopefully have something to report.
