Thumbs up The Willowgate trout & Salmon fishery

I popped into this fishery on my way home from Pitlochry today, it is a bit awkward to find but a nice fishery,it`s directly under the bridge over the tay as you head to dundee i`m not sure how to cut in as i came down from the north. There is a lot of weed round all the banks, strong winds when i was there but one guy had caught 9,and another was saying he had never blanked on this fishery.Prices might scare you though, 8hr c&r £18 with 4 fish £30. Website : taysalmon .co.uk

Default The Willowgate trout & Salmon fishery directions

When crossing Friarton bridge M90 over river tay stay on inside lane and turn off at junction 11, you are looping back towards the way you came but stay in the inside lane for the A85 Dundee road and you will find the fishery 2cnd or 3rd on the left,go over railway bridge and turn right along this rough road untill you see fishery, this is a tight road so take it easy.Hope this helps but google it before you go to get a better idea.

I live in Perth and fish Willowgate at least once or twice every week. Granted, there have been weed problems experienced at Willowgate over the summer months (like many other fisheries have experienced) the staff at Willowgate now have the weeds well under control thanks to their recent acquisition of a weed-cutting boat.

To say there is a lot of weed round all the banks is slightly misleading and implies there is a problem. Yes, there are weed beds round all the banks, but these are cut to manageable levels which don't pose a problem. If anything the cut weed beds next to the banks encourages fish to come closer in, and on evening sessions allows you to have some fun stalking fish.

Since the weed cutting boat has got into action I've even been able to use the slow-glass line at Willowgate with no difficulty from weed.

Re: Prices, if anything they are marginally more expensive than other places, however, given the facilities at Willowgate are excellent, it's well-run and is stocked regularly with top quality Blues & rainbows I think their prices are quite reasonable.
