I've been popping in weekly after work over the summer. Its been very quiet in the heat but this recent week or so of cloudy weather, shorter days and rain have brought the fish out - not that I can catch them but I can see them feeding and rising. Good consistent risers around the lilly pads on lake 1 and the entrance end of the lake. Lake 3 has a few fish hugging the banks under the trees and church bay had a few fish coming out - not sure what the chap was using though he had 4 in two hours one evening. I don't know what mornings and midday is like.

Not very helpful I know but markedly better this week than last.

Rog ,, your giving away the secrets i presume the link is to the otherside
the mere is playing silly buggers with us at the mo, but i think youve found out were the fish are , and the monty does imitate quite afew different terestrials, try an unweighted on or grease up a weighted monty and let it sink very slowly, with the odd twitch, slow sinking flies are working pretty shallow, ive had a few lately on olive nymph 14 -16 greased so slow sink again, crunchers might work too, klink but try to keep fairly small, even caught on the ace of spades find the spots were fish are first of, then work from there start with flies on top , then go down, slow retrieves to fast, dont just stick to onr fly change it if you dont get interest and keep doing it, you can often get a fish or two then nothing will touch that fly, as you have noticed fish are high in the water taking nymphs and emergers , plus terestrials blown onto the water , bees , wasps , damsel , daddies and upwings of sorts, so try them, strangely buzzer isnt working well lately , ive had afew out on them but its very hard, BUT beware that could change quickly so dont be afraid to give it ago during the day, if you use a two fly setup , its quick to change flies and stick and indicator on, fish 6ft to the bottom fly first off then adjust deeper , if that dont work shallow up, black and silver is my fav, but black , olive even orange can do the biz if they are on them. The mere fish are reknown for wising up on flies so it gets more difficult the more they are fished for in a swim , churchbay it the swim thats frustrate us all, loads of fish , ****** all coming out Good luck old bean, ill be thrashing it tomorrow for a few hours , fingers crossed gaz
Dam said i wasnt going to use buzzers or fluoro

the mere is starting to pick up a bit . had 4 at the weekend .tryed everything in church bay finally had one on a bloodworm but really hard work. best fly was a olive nymph (thanks for the advice snaggit ) had 2 and lost 2 more .
maybe all the rain this week might stir it up a bit.

Dont know how you fished the bloodworm , but under an indicator in a ripple works well it moves the worm up and down giving it life try different depths from shallow to deep, glad yer caught on the olive nymph its my fav fly there you cn use it as a dry or wet , semi , fingers crossed for more rainstill waitng some buzzzer fishing love playing at float fishingperhaps see yer down there some time if i havnt alreadyGaz

Yep, I was there sunday evening and the rise at dusk in the entrance corner was impressive. I was fishing the pad swim without success Brian toddles over to the other side and the cheeky bu99er has 5 in 20mins just before 8pm - and even then he dropped quite a few. I had a go after 8pm at the entrance, missed one, but it was too dark to really see much so called time with a dry net - but only there for 2 hrs and most of that time I was trying to tempt a few risers on lake 3.

Should only improve as the weather cools.
