Anybody fished Farmoor lately?

The Forum on the Farmoor Fishing site has had no post for about two weeks now.....

Just wandering how it is fishing as the weather has been much cooler of late.

Hi Puzzler. I just signed on to ask the same. Not sure of the outcome as regardless of cooler weather, the water always takes a while to drop in temp. Looking forward to getting back on there.

I think the fishing was tricky in July but temeratures in August have been quite low plus the odd it of the wet stuff so I am hopeful it is fishing better.
Never many messages on the Farmoor fishing forum - it can go weeks with a sniff from anyone - which is s shame as one time it used to be regular updates from the admin and the rangers.

Web site has now been updated - the bailiff states he's had technology problems. Although, strangely, similar issues never seem to occur in springtime when the daily average catch is around 5 fish per rod ...

Looks as if, after a difficult July, the fishing is creeping back to par. The cooler and damp weather forecast for most of the rest of August is good news in this respect. Can't wait to get out on a ressie again !

Hello

The rod average is starting to climb but only very slowly. Thursday and Friday saw it at 2.6. Some notable fish have come to the bank anglers, a 10lb RB to one of our day anglers, a 6lb RB to Mr Paul Manktelow and a 7lb RB to Mr John Nicholls. The boat fishing has been very successful for some, Mr McClellan took a double limit of 16 RB's On Friday 20th, and the Damsel fly was his choice for the day.
There have been others less successful this just means the fish are still here and getting bigger.

Farmoor 1 re-opens on Bank Holiday Monday 3oth August and we have 4 places left available to book for that day.

I have been watching the resident fish working the margins this week and they all look fit and ready to do battle.

We will be stocking another 1000 3 lb + fish into F1 week commencing 27th September.

Farmoor 2 has received 2,000 fish from our own cages over the last 2 weeks.

We look forward to seeing you all here soon.

Hello

The conditions continue to improve (for fishing) and as a result the rod average on F2 for last 7 days came in at 3.4 Dave Evans took a nice R/B @ 8lb 12oz and Phil Lowe took another @ 9lb 14oz (photos in the Lodge) There was report of a 12lb + coming to a boat but I have no details.

Farmoor 1 is steady fishing; nice fish coming in at between 3lb and 10lbs, no giants just yet but its early days. There are 1000 3lb + R/Bs going in next week to stir it up.

Shown below is a list of Matches for the rest of this year and then a list of what we hope will be annual matches.

1. Thames Water Shield. Teams of four, bank match, 23rd Oct 2010
2. Christmas Fur and Feather. Singles Bank Match, to be held on last Saturday before Christmas. Each Competitor will receive a small prize for taking part. A raffle will be held to raise funds for this years Charity 'Casting For Recovery' contributions for both raffle and fishing prizes are welcome

2. Spring Boat Pairs. To be held 1st Saturday in April

All winners will be awarded appropriate medals and there will be an annual trophy for each match. Having been awarded, the trophies will be held on display at the Rangers lodge, showing the winners details.

If you are a previous winner of any of our annual matches, can you please return any trophies you hold at this time?

If you are a club, organisation or group and wish to hold any of your matches at out venue then please get in touch and I will program them into our calendar for 2010/11

I hope you all have a good autumn with us here

All the best

I spent about 9 unsuccessful hours there yesterday, tried all sorts, other people seemed to be catching but I only managed to hook myself a couple of times.

What are the tactics there at the moment? I fancy going back for another go.

I was there last weekend, and fishing near the small towers out in the middle with a sinking line and boobie, (Black and Green Eyes) I pulled in 6 and lost Three, my friend Pulled in 6 and lost a few.

Think the trick was not to yank it in too fast, i I was doing small figures of eight followed by the odd short sharp pull it worked wonders!!
