Default County Mayo - advice on a Trout lake

Hi there, I have a fishing trip organised to County Mayo for a few days, we are fishing the Ridge Pool in Balina for a couple of days, the Owenmore River and Carrowmore Lake (I've posted a couple of other threads to get advice on htese waters).

We arrive at Knock (staying in Balina) mid afternoon on the 12th August and fancy a spot of late afternoon / early evening trout fishing.

Can anyone suggest a suitable stillwater venue in and around Knock / Balina / Foxford that we could get a few hours on. Dont mind if its natural or stocked.

Current thinking seems to be along the lines of Lough Conn or Cullin, although as we only have a few hours a smaller venue would be preferable.

Help. as always is really appreciated.

Paul

Cullin would be perfect to end your day of travel and start your fishing. Park at the Pontoon Bridge... have a pint.... go and bank fish Cullin... have a pint

Lough Conn is a far better bet than Lough Cullin at this time of the year. Cullin is very good in the early part of the season.

There are small lakes 2 miles from Foxford called the Callow lakes which are stuffed with small trout but from what I hear can be very lively. They may be worth a shot.

Or stick to the pub.........
