Default What's NOT fishing well at the moment !!!

Most of my recent trips to various small stillwaters in the Southeast (Essex) have been remarkably unproductive, with several days where if I get a nibble I am lucky.
Now let me say straight off, I am not ranting about certain fisheries, nor saying that my technique has something to do with it, but simply saying that due to the temperature, low water levels, low oxygen in the water, etc etc, times are hard at the moment.
I would like to think it is not just me, because other anglers I speak to are experiencing similar tough times.

Just wondering if it might be a good idea to have a thread where instead of saying "fishery X is superb at the moment", it could say "fishery X is very tough at the moment"?

I realise that it might sound a bit unfair for some of the fisheries,(That isn't what this thread is about) but if I hear that a fishery is hard, then that won't necessarily stop me from going, because I enjoy going fishing whatever the result, but at least if I knew, I could lower my expectations; then at least if I do catch, it would be a bit more of an achievement !!

Does any-one agree? Or should I get out more ?

Cheers,
Gary.

You pays your money and takes your chances, its up to you to beat the conditions, fishery managers cannot control the weather. Why not try at night when its cooler?

I think it's fairly simple. in weather like this, all fisheries will suffer. those which are spring fed will do better than stream fed, and it makes sense to fish early and late.

Avington and Chalk Springs are still fairly easy early on due to their water, but lechlade will be very tricky. I've also heard Dever's tricky at the moment.

If there's shade you have a chance, and of course stock density. al of which is less in the heat of the summer..

Yes, you are absolutely right. This is what I do.

The purpose of the post was to see whether forum members thought it was a good idea to have thread specifically for those fisheries where it is hard, to share techniques etc, NOT to "slag off" fisheries, or to point fingers.
The main reason for this was I recently read a few posts recently where people were saying a fishery was a waste of money etc, whereas I believe it is not the fisheries fault, it's down to the weather.
Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Cheers,
Gary
