Mash is on a distinguished road
Default Anyone been to Meldon reservoir?

Having stumbled across the SWT website and found Meldon I thought it may be worth a bash. Any thoughts? I know it's closed season for brownies at the moment but it's not long to go......

Well if nothing else it is free
I'm not sure how well it fishes early season but it is high up on Dartmoor so it could be a bit slow. The banks are all very steep so there are no shallow areas to warm up and attract fish early in the season, they will probably all be asleep until May
If you are coming all the way from Sussex you may as well carry on down the A30 to Roadford. I've not fished there for several of years but it always fished very well at the start of the season. You could get browns up to 3 or 4lb out of the shallows just feet from the banks. The average size was around 2lb. If you do go there don't stand in one place, keep on the move.

Thanks Andy, much appreciated. It sounds like it may well be worth waiting until the warmer weather is here, or just combine your recommendation with Meldon and make a weekend of it........
